Geography

Bhutan is a landlocked nation nestled in the eastern Himalayas, renowned for its striking terrain of soaring mountains and dee, pristine valleys. Over 60% of the country is covered by dense forest, reflected in the rich and verdant green landscapes that add to the breathtaking beauty of this remarkable region. Its topography varies greatly, ranging from the towering peaks of the Great Himalayas in the north to the lush subtropical plains in the south. The country experiences three distinct climate zones - a cold and tundra climate in the northern region, a temperate climate in the central region, and a hot and humid subtropical climate in the southern part. Bhutan is also known for its heavy monsoon season, which brings significant rainfall across much of the country. Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are widely considered the best times to visit and explore the many wonders of this enchanting Himalayan kingdom.
